United Keen On Real Madrid Man
Manchester United are one of a number of Premier League clubs being linked with a move for Colombia international forward James Rodriguez.
The 27-year-old is coming to the end of a two-season loan spell at Bayern Munich and will return to Real Madrid at the end of the campaign to discuss his future with club president Florentino Perez.
Bayern have the option to purchase Rodriguez this summer for a fixed fee of £37 million. However, a permanent transfer to the Bundesliga side doesn’t look like an option with neither club nor player ready to explore the prospect.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane doesn’t see Rodriguez as part of his plans for next season the Colombian will be sold.
Some reports claim Manchester United are keen along with Liverpool and Arsenal. However, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested. Rodriguez has experience of Ligue 1 having spent a season at Monaco prior to joining Real Madrid. He has never played in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Manchester United look set to part with four players this summer. Striker Romelu Lukaku, full-back Matteo Darmian and central defender Marcos Rojo look set to be sold with midfielder Juan Mata granted a free transfer at the end of his contract.
Lukaku was linked earlier this week with interest from Inter Milan. Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring in the Belgian at the San Siro. Conte is being tipped to take over from Luciano Spalletti as Inter boss. Reports from Italy claim Inter will offer £30 million plus winger Ivan Perisic for Lukaku. However, the Croatian is off United’s radar having turned 30.
Darmian is also expected to move to Italy while Mata could return to Spain although he is being linked with Newcastle United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to clear the decks at Old Trafford to bring in what some observers believed could be many as five new signings this summer.
