Gunners To Firm Up Interest In Scot
Arsenal will make a move for Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Fraser after next week’s Europa League Final with Chelsea.
The Gunners have been tracking Fraser for much of this year and the Scotland international is believed to be keen to make the move to the Emirates.
However, Bournemouth are expected to demand £30 million for a player who has just one more year left on his contract at the Vitality Stadium.
Fraser provided 14 assists for the Cherries in the season just ended – only Eden Hazard of Chelsea chipped in with more. But talks over a new deal have come to nothing and Bournemouth are preparing themselves for a sale.
Arsenal will find the £30 million valuation of Fraser excessive and will try and get the price lowered. However, Bournemouth have to pay 20 per cent of any proceeds to Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen under the terms of the deal that saw Fraser move to the south coast in 2013. The Cherries paid an initial £300,000. A £30 million sale to Arsenal will see Bournemouth having to pay a further £6 million to the Scottish side.
Victory over Chelsea next week will see Arsenal qualify for the Champions League. That would give them a boost of at least £70 million with some of that set to be invested in the playing squad.
But Arsenal are also being linked with Bayern Munich’s on-loan forward James Rodriguez. The Colombia international is currently on loan at the Bundesliga side; however, Rodriguez does not want to make the move permanent. Bayern did have the option of a £37 million transfer when the loan comes to an end this summer.
Manchester United, Liverpool, PSG and Juventus are also being linked with Rodriguez who will return to Real Madrid this summer.
