Deal Close For James
Manchester United are reported to be close to signing Swansea City winger Daniel James.
The 21-year-old is on the verge of a £15 million transfer to Old Trafford from the Championship side.
James was also a strong transfer target for Leeds United, but their play-off defeat to Derby County last week ended their hopes of a return to the Premier League and with it their hopes of signing James.
Reports on Tuesday have claimed an agreement is in place between United and Swansea. Newcastle United and Everton have also been linked as have Brighton who on Monday appointed James’s boss at Swansea, Graham Potter, as their new manager.
However, United’s firepower means they have been able to offer better terms to James and a higher transfer fee to Swansea. A move to Old Trafford is on the verge of being announced.
Wan-Bissaka Move May Drag On
Manchester United will have to pay £50 million to Crystal Palace if they want to sign full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
United skipper Antonio Valencia will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of next month. Matteo Darmian is also being tipped to move on. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified Wan-Bissaka as a replacement for the pair.
The England Under-21 international has been watched by United scouts on a number of occasions. The Red Devils are trying to agree a fee with Palace before opening talks with Wan-Bissaka over personal terms.
However, Palace are digging in their heels. Speculation is rife over Wan-Bissaka and another of their players, former United winger Wilfried Zaha and they have no wish to lose both players regardless of the size of fee involved.
The situation regarding Wan-Bissaka may take some weeks to resolve and it may be that they will up bids in tandem for the England Under-21 international and Zaha.
