Gunners To Beat Serie A Duo To Centre-Back
Arsenal have put in a £10.5 million bid for the Argentine defender Walter Kannemann according to reports from Italy.
Kannemann, 28, currently plays for the Brazilian side Gremio and has five international caps for Argentina.
Calciomercato claims that Serie A sides Inter Milan and Sampdoria are both keen on Kannemann but that both clubs look set to miss out to the Gunners.
Kannemann is in his fourth season with Gremio. He joined the club from Mexican side Atlas in 2016 following two seasons with the Liga MX outfit. He began his career with San Lorenzo in his homeland. He picked up Copa Libertadores winners medals with both San Lorenzo and Gremio.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been given a budget of around £40 million to spend this summer although that figure may well be boosted if the Gunners win the Europa League. Victory over Chelsea in the Final in Baku on 29 May means the Gunners will get a passage back to the Champions League where they will play in the group stages. Some of the additional income – put at a minimum of £60 million for English clubs – will be handed to Emery as part of his transfer budget.
German Clubs Eye Up Arsenal Youngsters
Meanwhile, two Arsenal academy players are attracting the attentions of clubs in the Bundesliga.
Tyreece John-Jules and Xavier Amaechi, both of whom are 18 years old, are being urged to sign new contracts at the Emirates. Bayern Munich are a number of German sides keeping tabs on the duo.
Both players are under contract until 2020.
