Partey Release Clause Revealed
Manchester United are interested in the Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, but the Red Devils will have to pay a release clause of €50 million (£43 million).
Partey has been linked in the past with United and there have been reports in recent weeks that he is also a target for both Inter Milan and Arsenal. But speaking to Inter fan site Passione Inter, the Ghaniain’s agent Jose Daniel Jimenez Pozanco said he wants to wait until after the end of the La Liga season before any thinking about his future.
“Inter is a top club, but I haven’t talked to anyone yet,” said Pozanco.
“The termination clause in Thomas’s contract is 50 million euros, and that figure for a player like him makes it a cheap profile. Let the season end and then we’ll see what happens.”
The defensive midfielder is under contract at Atletico until 2023. Atletico look set to lose one-time Manchester United transfer target Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona. An exit for another star player looks unlikely so expect talks over a new deal with a much higher release clause.
“I’ve grown up in Atleti and I am sure I will stay here,” Partey said last month.
Meanwhile, reports from Catalunya claim that Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is a transfer target for Barcelona.
Mundo Deportivo claims Rashford and the Arsenal pair of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are all on Barca’s radar. However, the chances of United sanctioning an exit for Rashford are slim and there is no indication from the England international that he wants to leave Old Trafford.
