No Bayern Talks Over Striker
Liverpool could still sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner according to the Bundesliga side’s chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff.
The Reds have long been interested in Germany international Werner and reports this season have suggested they are still monitoring his situation.
Werner is out of contract at the end of next season and has told Leipzig that he isn’t interested in signing a new deal.
Bayern Munich have also shown an interest in the 23-year-old, but speaking at the weekend Mintzlaff said that there have been no talks with the Bundesliga leaders over a possible bid for Werner.
“The situation is still the same. Timo Werner would rather not sign an extension,” he told Sky Deutschland. “But that could change.
“I don’t think it’s completely out of the question that he could extend his deal. We haven’t talked to Bayern Munich about Timo Werner yet.
“Maybe he doesn’t even want to go to Munich. Maybe he would rather join Tuchel in Paris, Klopp at Liverpool or Favre at Dortmund.”
Werner has scored 16 Bundesliga goals in 30 appearances for Leipzig so far this campaign – 20 goals in 36 games in all competitions.
