No Prospect Of An Exit Until 2021
Mesut Ozil won’t be leaving Arsenal this summer as the German insists on seeing out his £350,000-a-week contract at the Emirates.
Ozil has had spells out of the Gunners side this season following injuries and poor form but after putting pen to paper on a lucrative new three-year deal in January of last year he isn’t of the mind to quit the Emirates Stadium.
Ozil’s wages will put off a number of potential suitors. Inter Milan were keen during the January transfer window; however, the prospect of a deal fell apart when the Serie A side insisted on Arsenal stumping up a significant proportion of his wages. That is likely to be the same scenario this summer with clubs looking to take Ozil on loan – but with a contribution from the Gunners. Neither the Premier League side nor Ozil are interested.
Now, Dr Erkut Sogut claims there is no chance of Ozil leaving.
“Rumours will always persist, – there is no doubt about that – but one thing I can guarantee is Mesut’s loyalty,” he told Turkish-Football.com.
“His mind is focused on Arsenal, and Arsenal only. Mesut bleeds Arsenal red, and respecting his contract is a certainty.
“He’ll be staying at Arsenal until at least 2021, and the fans need not to worry about the gossip that may come this summer.
“He has found a place he feels welcome and believes he has a lot more to give.”
