Manchester United Players Hit With Pay Cut

Champions League Failure Hits Wages

Manchester United transfer news

Manchester United players will be hit with a pay cut following the side’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

United’s 1-1 draw at bottom side Huddersfield Town coupled with Chelsea’s 3-0 home win over Watford on Sunday means the Red Devils are now four points off fourth place with just one game left to play.

Many United players have contracts that penalises them with a 25 percent pay cut for failing to clinch a top four spot.

Paul Pogba is the worst affected according to the Football Leaks website. The France international will lose out to the tune of £1.875 million. His commercial rights also increase from £2.87 million to £3.125 million.

Expect rumours to increase over a move away from the club this summer. Pogba was already expected to take a cut to force through a move to Real Madrid. The hit won’t now be as great.

United’s failure is also expected to affect the club in the summer transfer market according to some reports. But money talks and while the club will lose out to the tune of over £60 million, their financial clout at present is such that they are able to more than most of their rivals.
