New Link With Costa Rican
Manchester United are once again being linked with Real Madrid’s Costa Rica international keeper Keylor Navas. The news comes amidst reports that David de Gea has been given an ultimatum over his future at the club.
Navas fell out of favour at the Bernabeu earlier this season following the signing of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea, but the Belgium international has failed to impress and Navas has found himself back in the side.
Reports today claim that United will be offered the chance to sign Navas as part of the transfer to Madrid of Paul Pogba.
Navas was famously close to a move to Old Trafford in August 2015 as part of a proposed move for David de Gea. The transfer collapsed when United left it until the last minute before faxing the relevant documents to Madrid.
De Gea signed a new deal with Manchester United shortly after the move broke down. That contract expires next summer and he is refusing to put pen to paper on a new deal. The Sun On Sunday claim he has to the end of this week to make up his mind.
Whether Navas will be in the frame as an adequate replacement remains to be seen. At 32 he hardly fits United’s profile. The club are more likely to seek a younger player.
