Blues Made Promise Over Move
Eden Hazard wants Chelsea to keep to their word and allow him to leave the club this summer.
That’s according to The Sun On Sunday which claims the Belgian forward’s representatives are keen for the club to allow him to move to Real Madrid during the forthcoming transfer window.
Chelsea apparently told Hazard last summer that he could leave if he spent one more season at Stamford Bridge. But the Blues have since been hit with a two-window transfer ban and that now puts them in a difficult situation.
Chelsea are appealing to have the ban pushed back to 2020 but there has been no word yet from FIFA. If they keep Hazard then they run the risk of losing him for nothing when his contract expires at the end of next season.
Christian Pulisic will arrive from Borussia Dortmund this summer with the idea being that he will replace Hazard. However, that could have the effect of putting a huge weight on the young American’s shoulders.
Some reports claim Real Madrid are willing to pay £90 million for Hazard. However, the La Liga side could point to the fact that they can sign him for nothing next summer as a means of getting the fee reduced.
