£6m Fee Agreed Claims Report
Arsenal have already made their future plans for Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli.
Reports from Brazil claim that despite the attentions of a number of other European clubs Arsenal are confident of a transfer going through for the 17-year-old.
Martinelli spent two weeks on trial at Manchester United as a youngster before the Red Devils rejected the chance of a move. He also had a two-week spell at Barcelona with the Catalans also deciding not to pursue a permanent move.
According to Yahoo Brasil, Arsenal will pay Martinelli’s current club Ituano £6million. The transfer will be announced when he turns 18 in June.
All now hinges on his passport application. Martinelli has Italian ancestry and is currently on holiday in Italy hoping to smooth things over with the authorities there. An Italian passport will enable Martinelli to play in the UK without the need for a work permit.
Arsenal will instal the youngster in their under-23 set-up for next season and some outlets are claiming the Gunners even have a date in mind for his first-team debut. That is likely to be in one of the domestic cup competitions most likely the third round of next season’s FA Cup.
Martinelli has just finished playing in the Sao Paulo state championship for Ituano who were eliminated at the quarter-final stage. He ended the tournament as the side’s top scorer with six goals and three assists.
