Cristiano Ronaldo is keen for Juventus to buy the Benfica teenage forward Joao Felix if the club are to end their Champions League drought.

Reports from Italy claim Ronaldo has put the 19-year-old at the top of a list of players he believes the club needs to buy this summer.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport believes there are a total of six players on the list. Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid team-mate Isco and Raphael Varane are also on the list along with Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa and Tanguy Ndombele of Lyon. Matthijs de Ligt of Ajax and Kostas Manolas of Roma are also being linked.

Felix was the subject of a failed bid of €70million (at the time worth £61million) from Liverpool during the January transfer market. His release clause with Benfica is put at €120million (£105million).

De Ligt is being linked with interest from Barcelona.

Juventus have reached two of the last four Champions League finals. However, they were beaten in extra time by Barcelona in 2015 while Ronaldo’s Real Madrid side defeated them 4-1 in the final in Cardiff in 2017.

It is 23 years since Juventus last won a Champions League title. They defeated Ajax on penalties in the 1996 final after a 1-1 draw. But the same club knocked them out of this season’s competition at the quarter-final stage with a 2-1 second-leg victory in Turin last week to give them a 3-2 win on aggregate.
