Striker Now Has 11 Goals For The Season
Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez has hinted at a possible summer departure from St James’s Park.
Perez scored a hat-trick for the Magpies in their 3-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday. The result means Newcastle have secured Premier League safety.
The 25-year-old has now scored 11 goals for the season and his performances have put him on the radar of a number of La Liga clubs.
“In the summer, there are going to be options,” he said after Saturday’s result. “That means I have done something well. I’ll be up for hearing what is coming, but it doesn’t mean I am going to leave 100 per cent at the end of the season.
“It is going to be a difficult decision and depends on a lot of things.”
Saturday’s haul has put Perez in the list of Newcastle’s top ten goalscorers in the Premier League era – something he is well aware of.
“Such a big club, such a tough league,” he said. “I need to think about that because it is something to be proud of, and something very big for myself that I couldn’t even imagine when I signed.”
Perez joined Newcastle from Tenerife in Spain’s second division for a fee of just £1.5million in 2014.
Seven of his goals have come since the arrival of Miguel Almiron from MLS side Atlanta United at the end of January.
