Manchester United have made an enquiry for the Bayern Munich central defender Niklas Sule according to reports from Germany.

Sport1 claims the Red Devils are interested in Sule who has played in 36 competitive games for Bayern so far this season.

But Bayern are unlikely to part with the 23-year-old Sule. He has replaced former Manchester United transfer target Jerome Boateng as first-choice centre-back with the Bundesliga side.

Sule joined the German champions from Hoffenheim in a €20million move in July 2017. He is now valued at double that amount – the equivalent of £35million.

United look certain to boost their defensive ranks this summer. Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Kalidou Koulibaly are all on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar.

De Gea, Rashford

News of two current Manchester United players. David De Gea is reported to be frustrated at the club’s refusal to meet his wage demands. The club are refusing to re-open talks over a new deal.

De Gea’s contract expires at the end of next season and he is being linked with interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

United are expected to wait until the end of the season before new discussions take place. The club’s budgets will be impacted on any failure to reach the Champions League so a top four spot could make life easier for United.

Barcelona’s interest in Marcus Rashford could be at an end. The Catalan side are interested in Rashford but reports today claim any move will be too expensive.

The Sunday Express claims United would demand £150million for a player who is under contract until the end of next season although there is a one-year extension clause in the deal.

There is also the issue of Rashford’s wage demands. He is looking for £200,000 a week from United and that’s too much for Barca.

Again, Champions League qualification for United could result in those demands being met.
