Cristiano Ronaldo Could Leave Juventus Early

Ajax Defeat Hasn’t Gone Down Too Well

Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Juventus at the end of next season if changes aren’t made at the Serie A club.

The Portugal international was denied a sixth Champions League-winners medal after Juve were eliminated from this season’s competition at the hands of Ajax on Tuesday night. But it seems Ronaldo hasn’t taken the defeat too well.

The 34-year-old signed a four-year deal when he signed for Juventus from Real Madrid last summer. An exit this summer isn’t likely but Italian newspapers Repubblica and Gazzetta dello Sport are both claiming that Ronaldo could be on his way out of the club at the end of the 2019-20 season.

Ronaldo has scored 19 goals in Serie A so far this season and has a record of 26 goals in 38 games in all competitions. But while the side are a massive 17 points ahead of Napoli in the league table and a shoo-in for an eighth successive title the defeat against Ajax means a first Champions League triumph since 1996 is as far away as ever.

This latest report appears to be founded entirely on a lack of activity on Ronaldo’s social media accounts since Tuesday.

Also Juventus would expect to have some input on a £100million transfer signing leaving half-way through his contract with the club. Unless he was sold elsewhere it would mean writing off £50million of their investment.

Talk of an early exit for Ronaldo are also premature.
