Teenager Makes Point Following Hat-Trick
Liverpool teenager Rafa Camacho has hit out at the club claiming he is being played out of position.
The 18-year-old has been played as a right-back in his only two first-team appearances for the Reds. But he scored a hat-trick from the right-wing at the weekend as the Reds’ under-23 side defeated Leiecester City 6-0. After the game he took to Instagram to point out that this was his preferred position.
“I do not know whose idea it is, but I will prove that they are mistaken about my football,” Camacho wrote on Instagram. “I’m not a right defender, I’m an attacker who scores goals. This is my DNA.
“Happy to score three goals and help the team in today’s win vs Leicester.”
Earlier this year, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hinted that he sees Camacho in a permanent defensive role.
“He is good in defensive challenges. He’s an offensive player in his mindset and everything but look at our full-backs and where are they most of the time? You need these offensive skills.
“It is the learning process Robbo [Andrew Robertson] went through.
“He was a fantastic left-winger but played full-back and now he is a full-back. That’s really cool.”
Klopp ruled out a move away from Anfield for Camaacho at the end of January. But the youngster is out of contract at the end of next season and talks have broken down over a new deal.
