United Rivals Told To Pay Release Fee
Manchester United will only be able to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid if they pay his €500million (£437million) release fee.
Reports from Italy claim Juventus are also being linked with Varane who has been a Manchester United transfer target since the end of 2011 when he was with French side Lens.
But re-appointed Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane still sees Varane as very much part of his plans for next season and will not sanction a move.
Rai Sport claims Juve have already approached Real Madrid over a possible summer move but have been told by the La Liga side that he will only leave the club if his release clause is activated. That means depositing the €500million with Real’s bank.
United Scouts Watch Dembele, Fernandes
Manchester United are keeping tabs on Lyon’s former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele according to reports.
The 22-year-old moved to the French side last summer in a deal worth around £2million. But he has impressed for Lyon in this campaign scoring 18 goals in all competitions.
According to the Daily Mirror, scouts from Old Trafford have watched Dembele in action on a number of occasions so far this season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United scouts travelled to the northern Portugese town of Aves at the weekend. They were there to watch Sporting Lisbon forward Bruno Fernandes.
The 24-year-old scored his 28th goal of the season and his sixth in seventh games as Sporting won 3-1 against Desportivo Aves.
Scouts from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus were also in attendance.
