Eriksen In United Link
Manchester United are prepared to treble Christian Eriksen’s wages at Tottenham Hotspur if the Denmark international chooses to move to Old Trafford.
That’s according to a speculative report in the Sunday Mirror which claims that Eriksen’s current £80,000-a-wage could rise to £240,000 a week.
Eriksen is out of contract at the end of next season and the Mirror claims he is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s summer wishlist for the forthcoming transfer window.
But Eriksen is also believed to be a transfer target for Real Madrid and the La Liga giants are also ready to make a summer move. They have a slight advantage in that Eriksen was a boyhood fan of the club.
Whoever decides to make a move for Eriksen is likely to have to face the formidable negotiating talents of Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy. The Spurs chief has a habit of drawing out negotiations partly in the hope of forcing a player to lose the will to leave and to sign a new deal if necessary. Both United and Real could find talks continuing right into August.
Eriksen has been offered a new deal at Tottenham but he is holding out for the £200,000 a week that Harry Kane currently earns. The offer made by Spurs falls well short of that – hence the link with a move away from north London.
Other players being linked today with Manchester United are Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Koulibaly is a long-standing target for United although Napoli will hold out for a transfer fee in excess of £100million. Reports on Saturday claimed Wan-Bissaka was off United’s wishlist in favour of a greater role for Diogo Dalot with Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier being brought in to add experience to that position.
