But Future Still In Doubt
The agent of Gareth Bale insists the Welshman will not be leaving Real Madrid this summer.
Bale, 29, has been booed and barracked by Real Madrid fans in a season where he was due to take over from Cristiano Ronaldo.
The former Tottenham man has scored 11 goals in 35 games for Real so far this season – much worse than was expected of him.
Talks were due to take place this week between Bale’s representative Jonathan Barnett and Real Madrid chiefs. But speaking on Tuesday, Barnett insisted that a move back to the Premier League isn’t on the cards.
“He is very happy here,” Barnett said. “He is a Real Madrid player and right now he is not thinking about a return to England.”
However, Barnett was asked if he thought Bale would still be at the club next season: “I can’t predict the future. But for now he is happy.”
Real coach Zinedine Zidane has also spoken on Bale’s future and he was less than commital over the chances of him staying.
“We shall see. Gareth is a Real Madrid player with two years left on his contract,” the Frenchman said after Bale was booed by home supporters.
“We’re not happy about the whistles, but the public comes to see their team do well.
“There was a reaction and I’m left with that, the public knows that the season is over, that we play to try and finish second.”
