Klopp ‘Impressed’ With Belgian Striker’s Attitude
Liverpool are ready to offer a new deal to striker Divock Origi according to one report today.
The Belgium international looked set to leave Anfield last summer; however, Liverpool’s price tag of €30 million (at that time worth around £27 million) ensured there were no takers. Premier League new boys Wolves agreed a £22 million fee but Origi snubbed the deal to remain at Anfield.
The 23-year-old has made ten Premier League appearances for the Reds so far this season – three as a starter and seven off the bench – and his two goals have come at an average of one for every 143 minutes on the pitch.
But Football Insider claims to have been told by an ‘insider’ at Anfield that manager Jurgen Klopp has been “blown away” by Origi’s attitude and application in training. The striker has appeared in nine of Liverpool’s last 11 games – ahead of Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge.
Origi’s current deal with Liverpool expires at the end of next season.
