Leicester To Demand £90m Claims Report
Manchester United might have to go as high as £90million to sign Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire.
United were linked with Maguire last summer when it was reported that they bid £65million for the England international. But while Leicester put that valuation on Maguire the Old Trafford board were concerned that the price was too high off the back of one decent season in the Premier League and a good World Cup for England.
But the Daily Star believes Leicester will demand £90million for the 26-year-old. That would smash the existing world record for a defender which currently stands at the £75million Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.
That sort of fee is likely to deter United who are also being linked with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. But the Serie A side are quoting in excess of the Senegal international.
Maguire signed a new deal at the King Power Stadium only last September and is under contract with the Foxes until the end of June 2023.
Meanwhile, scouts from Manchester United are keeping tabs on Sampdoria’s Denmark international defender Joachim Andersen.
The 22-year-old is being linked with possible move this summer. Sampdoria will demand somewhere in the region of €30-35million (£25.7-30million).
