Keita Linked With Bundesliga Return
Liverpool could let midfielder Naby Keita leave at the end of the season.
The Guinea international moved to Anfield from RB Leipzig last summer after the Reds paid a fee of £52million – some £4million more than his release fee – in a transfer that was agreed in 2017.
But Keita arrived with an injury and he has struggled to make an impression for the Reds so far this campaign. He has yet to find the net in 27 appearances for the Merseyside club.
James Milner, Fabinho and Giorginio Wijnaldum are all ahead of Keita in the Liverpool pecking order and in what appears to be a speculative piece The Sun claims Jurgen Klopp is thinking of letting Keita go in the summer.
The paper adds that Liverpool will make a loss of around £10million on the 24-year-old.
But even at £42million that will put him out of reach of virtually the whole of the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are the only sides who could afford Keita. In Dortmund’s case a bid would only come if they sold Jadon Sancho. Bayern are in the market for a winger but look set to sign Nicolas Pepe from French side Lille.
Liverpool may well be stuck with Keita for at least one more season.
