Defender Keen On Change Of Scenery
Real Madrid central defender Raphael Varane is being linked with a move away from the La Liga side.
The France international moved to Real at the age of 18 in 2012 and has grown to become a mainstay in their starting eleven.
French newspaper L’Equipe reported earlier this week that Varane has grown tired of life in Madrid and is looking to move on. The news came as no surprise to his team-mates at the Bernabeu. Varane had already told them that he wants to leave.
Manchester United were linked with Varane before he made the move to Real Madrid. But the intervention of Zinedine Zidane – then in a backroom role at the club – clinched the deal for Los Blancos and Varane moved to Real from French side Lens.
United have been linked with Varane on an annual basis since then and the word has always come back that he isn’t interested in any move.
The 25-year-old has a release clause of €500million (£440million) and will have to negotiate with the club to get that fee lowered. But Zidane will once again have a part to play and will need all the charm that persuaded Zidane to move to the Bernabeu seven years ago.
