Griezmann In New United Link
Manchester United are being linked once again with a move for the Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.
United came close to signing the France international two years ago, but the confirmation that Atletico would have to serve a two-window transfer ban led to him signing a new contract with the La Liga side.
Griezmann was linked last summer with interest from Barcelona, but he received another new contract from Atletico – this one worth €23million a year or almost £400,000 a week. The club also signed Thomas Lemar while Lucas Hernandez got a new deal – both of which were requested by Griezmann.
But Lucas and coach Diego Simeone are both considering exits from the Wanda Metropolitano and Griezmann is now said to be considering his own future.
The Barcelona-based newspaper Sport claims United are the front-runners to secure Griezmann’s signature along with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The weather was thought to be an additional factor in compelling the 27-year-old to remain in Spain. However, neither Barcelona or Real Madrid have shown any interest thus far.
Courtois ‘Snubs’ United Move
Meanwhile, there are reports that Thibaut Courtois has rejected a possible move to Manchester United from Real Madrid in a deal involving David De Gea.
Courtois has seen the re-appointment of Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu relegate to the substitutes’ bench last weekend with Keylor Navas replacing him.
The Sun claims talks have taken place over a move that would see Courtois head to Old Trafford with De Gea finally making a move to Real Madrid four years after a transfer was scuppered at the last minute. The paper claims talks have already taken place over the move.
De Gea is out of contract with United at the end of next season and is dragging his feet over a new deal.
