Manolas Is Alternative To Koulibaly
Manchester United could sign Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas this summer if the Italian side fail to finish in the top four of Serie A.
United are being linked with a move for a central defender at the end of the season with the £100million-rated Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli at the top of their wishlist. However, Manolas is another potential target according to the Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Roma have a reputation as selling club – regardless of whether or not they qualify for the Champions League. At least one of their star names will leave this summer with forward Cengiz Under already being monitored by Arsenal.
However, Manolas has a release clause in his contract of just €36million (currently worth £30.8million) making him considerably cheaper than Koulibaly. He is known to prefer a club playing in the Champions League so a move to Old Trafford would depend on United securing a top four spot.
The Greece international is in his fifth season at Roma having moved from Olympiacos in his homeland for €15million in 2014. He recently notched up his 200th appearance for the club.
Pereira Linked With Loan Switch
Manchester United could send Andreas Pereira out on loan for the whole of next season.
The 23-year-old recently saw his contract extended by a year when United triggered a clause in his current deal. But manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him to sign a four-year contract.
Pereira has had loan spells in the past with Valencia and Granada in La Liga and clubs in Spain and Italy are eyeing up a fresh loan. However, he would prefer to stay in the Premier League.
Leicester City are being linked.
