De Gea In New Madrid Link
Fresh rumours are linking Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea with Real Madrid following the re-appointment of Zinedine Zidane as head coach at the Bernabeu.
De Gea is out of contract at the end of next season and is dragging his heels over a new deal at Old Trafford. The Spaniard has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid; however, that chance disappeared when they signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea last summer.
But Courtois has failed to impress since his £35million move and speculation has begun over a possible move for De Gea. The Belgian was dropped for Saturday’s match with Celta Vigo. Keylor Navas was recalled as Real won 2-0 in Zidane’s first game back in charge.
Zidane is known to be an admirer of the Manchester United stopper and he knows De Gea’s value will fall this summer.
United will play hardball to keep a player many of the club’s supporters believe is the best at the club. But De Gea knows he won’t earn as much at Madrid as he could do at Old Trafford. United have offered him a new deal worth £350,000 a week.
Zidane tried to play down Courtois’ demotion to the bench insisting that he will utilise all his squad between now and the end of the season.
“No one can take away what all these players have achieved in the past. I have a squad of 25 players and I am going to have to count on all of them, on Courtois, Keylor, Isco.” he told Spanish newspaper Marca.
“Those who played today were very good but I am going to use everyone. There are of course those who are sometimes going to be left out, who are not going to play.”
Inter Ready To Sell Manchester United Transfer Targets
Manchester United are being linked once again with the Inter Milan pair of Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic.
Reports from Italy claim both players could be sold this summer. Icardi has been linked with interest from United. Perisic was a United target both last summer and in 2017.
But while the Red Devils aren’t likely to put in a bid for Perisic because of his age – he turned 30 last month – a move for Icardi could be on the cards.
The Argentina international has seen his relationship with Inter and its fans crash and burn largely because of the public pronouncements of his wife and agent, the former model Wanda Nara.
But the fallout has affected Icardi’s form. After scoring 29 Serie A goals in 34 games last season he has hit just nine in 20 so far this campaign.
