Frenchman Out Of Contract This Summer
Manchester United are being linked with a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The France international is out of contract at the end of the season and has told PSG he won’t sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club.
PSG have responded by banishing Rabiot to the stands. He hasn’t played for the side in over three months – since a victory over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League in December.
Rabiot was in talks with Barcelona in January. He looked set to announce a move this summer to the Catalan side but talks were put on hold following the death of his father and it is believed there have been no further discussions.
Arsenal have a long-standing interest in Rabiot and were close to signing him up in the summer of 2015 – the last time his contract was ready to expire. The Gunners are still keeping tabs and were interested last summer.
But reports today claim Manchester United are also monitoring Rabiot’s situation. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing up a replacement for ageing midfielders such as Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and even Ander Herrera.
Rabiot is keeping his cards close to his chest for now. All he will say is that he is leaving PSG. However, he is insistent that he will only join a side playing in the Champions League and he is looking for a €10million (£9million) signing-on fee along with wages of around €10million a year.
Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have also been linked with the 23-year-old. Spurs also thought they were close to a deal in January. However, Chelsea can be ruled out this summer because of their transfer ban.
