Turk Seen As Ramsey Replacement
Arsenal have made Roma winger Cengiz Under their main transfer target this summer.
The Gunners have watched the Turkey international on a number of occasions this season and are being linked with a move for a player who would cost in excess of €30million (£26million).
Reports on Tuesday linked Arsenal with interest in AC Milan winger Suso. Scouts from the Emirates were at Milan’s game with Cagliari on Sunday where they watched both Suso and Cagliari’s Italy international Nicola Barella. The Gunners are eyeing up a replacement for Aaron Ramsey who will quit the north London club for Juventus at the end of the season.
But the north London club will instead pursue a deal for Under. Roma are likely to listen to offers over €30million regardless of whether or not they qualify for the Champions League. The Serie A side’s operating costs far exceed their income and the only way they can make ends meet and avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions is by selling their top players.
Mo Salah was sold for a huge profit in 2017 and this summer Roma will listen to offers for either Under or central defender Kostas Manolas who was once a target for Arsenal.
