Overseas Move Likely
Manchester United could send Dutch teenager Tahith Chong out on loan for the whole of next season.
The 19-year-old has broken into the first team since the departure of Jose Mourinho. Chong has made one substitute appearance in both the Premier League and the FA Cup and he came on in the second half of Wednesday night’s dramatic 3-1 win in Paris over PSG.
But United are looking for Chong to gain first-team experience on a weekly basis and speculative reports today claim he could be sent out on loan for the 2019-20 campaign.
Manchester United have the option of sending him out to a Championship side – which looks unlikely given the stage he is at. Alternatively, they could loan him to a club further down the Premier League.
However, reports today suggest Chong could be on his way to Europe. United received enquiries during the January transfer window from clubs in Germany and the Netherlands so a move to the Bundesliga or the Eredivisie looks likely. Dutch side Ajax are believed to be interested and are at the front of the queue.
United will weigh up each interested club based on the amount of first-team football they are willing to give to Chong.
The youngster was signed on a free transfer from Feyenoord when he was 16. He suffered a broken leg last year that saw him sidelined for much of the campaign.
