Forward Has Been Out Injured
Arsenal are set to send scouts to Italy to watch Roma forward Cengiz Under when he returns from injury.
The Gunners have been keeping tabs on the Turkey international for the past couple of years and made a fresh enquiry for the 21-year-old in the January transfer window.
Under has been out with a muscle injury for over six weeks missing his side’s last seven games. But Calciomercato in Italy believes they will step up their scouting of Under as he returns from injury.
Reports last week suggested that Under could be sold by Roma this summer. The side needs to make capital gains on its players to keep within Uefa’s Financial Fair Play rules and that’s a factor whether or not they make the Champions League.
Under cost €13million when he moved from Turkish side Istanbul Baseksehir in the summer of 2017. He has a contract that runs to 2022.
Arsenal have already seen one bid of €30million (£26million) rejected by the Serie A side in a move that is believed to have taken place last summer. Roma will only sell if they receive a bid in excess of €40million (around £35million).
That will stretch Arsenal’s budget. The Gunners have around €50million to spend in the summer.
Arsene Wenger was an admirer of Under. Unai Emery is also believed to be keen and has instructed his scouts to keep an eye on the Turk.
Expect another Arsenal bid at the end of the season.
