Icardi Swap Deal
Manchester United will be offered Mauro Icardi by Inter Milan in a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku according to reports.
Belgium international Lukaku scored twice on Saturday as United defeated Southampton 3-2 at Old Trafford. It brought his total to four in his last two games for the club after he hit two in the 3-1 midweek win at Crystal Palace.
Lukaku has had a disappointing season so far but his recent run of form means he has scored 12 goals in 26 Premier League games at an average of one for every 141 minutes on the pitch. That compares with 16 in 34 last season at an average of one every 168 minutes.
But Lukaku is still being linked with a move away from Old Trafford. The Sunday Express claims today that Inter would be willing to offer Icardi to United in exchange for Lukaku.
The Argentine has fallen out with Inter and its supporters. He and his wife Wanda Nara, who is also his agent, have been the targets of abuse from fans after he refused to sign a new deal. After hitting 29 Serie A goals last season he is down to nine in 20 games this season and he hasn’t featured for a month.
Icardi has a two-week window this summer where he can leave for a fixed fee of €100million (around £90million). Inter want him to sign contract that would over-rule that clause. They would also give him a pay rise that would see his wages increase significantly from the £75,000 a week he currently earns. He could double his money at United.
But Inter want Lukaku as Icardi’s replacement and the idea of a swap will appeal to them.
PSG Keen On United Target Sancho
Manchester United will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Jadon Sancho this summer,.
United have been linked in recent weeks with the 18-year-old who moved to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City for around £10million in the summer of 2017.
Sancho’s value has been put at the £90million although some outlets claim today that any bid from United would have to be in excess of £100million to persuade the Bundesliga side to part with the England international.
But PSG are also showing an interest. The French champions want to add Sancho to their star roster of players that includes Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Sancho is though to prefer a move back to England – assuming he goes anywhere. Dortmund have a reputation for playing hardball when it comes to interest in their star players. But an offer in the region of nine-figures could make then change their mind.
Sancho’s former club Manchester City are entitled to 15 percent of any transfer fee that Dortmund receive.
£155m For Felix, Dias
Manchester United will also face competition from Juventus for the Benfica midfielder Joao Felix. The Red Devils are keeping tabs on the 19-year-old who was the subject of a failed £61million bid from Liverpool during the January transfer window.
Portugese newspaper Record claims the two clubs are each willing to offer a total of €180million (£155million) for Felix and his 21-year-old team-mate, defender Ruben Dias.
United are being linked again with Juventus full-back Alex Sandro. The Brazilian was a transfer target last summer but he could be sold if Juve sign Marcelo from Real Madrid according to Tuttosport in Italy.
