Arsenal Saw Previous Bid Rejected
Roma are likely to sell Arsenal transfer target Cengiz Under as they seek to raise funds this summer,
Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old Turkey international winger for the past twelve months but Roma have so far stuck to their guns and insisted that he won’t be sold.
But according to the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A side may have to sell this summer – and that’s even if they make it into the Champions League.
Roma need capital gains to survive and that means making a significant profit on every player that they buy.
Under cost €13.4million (around £11million at the time) when they bought him from Istanbul Baseksehir in the summer of 2017. Arsenal have already seen one bid of £26million rejected by Roma. The Italians will only sell if they receive a bid somewhere in the region of €40million (£36million).
Roma have other options to raise money. Central defender Kostas Manolas – a long-time Arsenal transfer target – has a termination clause of €36million (around £32million) and his good form this season has brought him to the attention of a number of clubs.
