Arsenal are keeping tabs on Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, but the chances of the Poland international making a move to the Emirates are slim.

Zielinski was linked with Liverpool back in 2016 when he was with Udinese. He was even pictured with a Liverpool shirt ahead of a proposed £12million move. But the transfer fell though and Zielinski moved to Napoli in August of that year.

The 24-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular at Napoli although it has taken him until this season to do so. He made a total of 72 Serie A appearances during his first two season with the club although most of those came off the bench. So far this season he has made 25 appearances – 22 of which have come as a member of the starting line-up.

One of the regional newspapers in the Naples area, Corriere del Mezzogiorno, claims Arsenal have been watching Zielinski. However, he is likely to sign a new contract with Napoli who in any case rate him at around £60million.

Arsenal ‘Only Wanted Loan Deal’ For Almiron

The agent of Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron claims the Paraguay international rejected the chance to move to Arsenal in January.

The Gunners have been keeping tabs on Almiron – who left MLS side Atlanta United to move to St James’s Park in January – ever since he was with Argentine side Lanus in 2016. But when it came to make a move for the 24-year-old the Gunners were only interested in a temporary switch.

“Miguel Almiron is a footballer who went from less to more, now he is a more complete footballer,” his agent Daniel Campos told Paraguayan radio station ABC Cardinal.

“There was interest shown by Manchester United in Miguel Almiron but they never made an offer.

Arsenal and Southampton offered loan deals for Miguel Almiron but we did not want it to be a loan.”

Newcastle eventually paid a club-record fee of £21million for Almiron towards the end of last month.
