Lacazette Says Sorry To Arsenal Fans
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has apologised to the club’s supporters after being sent off in the side’s Europa League defeat to BATE Borisov.
The Frenchman received a straight red after elbowing Borisov defender aleksandar Filipovic during Thursday’s 1-0 defeat in Belarus.
“Letting the team down like that is the worst feeling. I should have stayed calm but it’s not always easy. Sorry,” he wrote on Twitter.
“There are still 90 minutes to play and I believe that my teammates will make it to the next round.”
Lacazette will miss the second leg of the tie at the Emirates as the Gunners look to turn around the one-goal deficit.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery expressed his disappointment with Lacazette’s actions.
“I didn’t see the action but we spoke and frustration needs controlling,” the Spaniard said at his post-match pres conference.
“It’s bad news with the red card.
“Next week we aren’t going to play with him but now we are going to think with the players that are OK for next week.”
