Heat Is On For Sarri
Chelsea want Zinedine Zidane to replace Maurizio Sarri as their manager.
Sarri has come under pressure following away defeats at Bournemouth (4-0) and last Sunday’s 6-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad.
The Sun claims that Sarri could be replaced by Zidane. The Frenchman has been out of work since he left Real Madrid following their third successive Champions League triumph at the end of May.
The paper says that there is a growing feeling amongst the Blues’ top brass that Zidane could be the man to take them forward.
But the views of the top men at Stamford Bridge will only be used on an advisory basis by owner Roman Abramovich. The Russian is still looking for buyers for Chelsea although he has so far struggled to find anyone that would be willing to meet his $3billion (£2.3million) price tag.
Zidane’s two-and-a-half year tenure at the Bernabeu is his only experience of top-flight management and that could count against him. But any move will have to wait to the end of the season. The 46-year-old isn’t interested in taking on a job in the middle of a campaign.
