Arsenal Could Make Move For Trossard

Belgian In If Suarez Fails?

Arsenal transfer news

Arsenal are being linked with Genk winger Leandro Trossard. The 24-year-old joined Genk as a teenager and has come up through the ranks at the Belgian club. But he has made just 50 league appearances for the side and had spells on loan at Westerlo, Lommel and Leuven.

But Trossard is having a spectacular season. He has scored 17 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions in what is by far the best season of his career.

Reports are claiming that Arsenal have been watching Trossard since November and that the Gunners would have put in a bid in the January transfer window had funds been available.

The latest claim is that Trossard is being lined up as an alternative to Denis Suarez. The Spaniard arrived last week on loan until the end of the season after a month of wrangling with Barcelona. The Catalan side wanted a permanent transfer from the outset but Arsenal insisted on a loan with an option to purchase in the summer and they got their way in the end.

But Trossard could be signed if Suarez flops. The Belgian would be available for around €25million (£22million) – a similar price to Suarez.

Arsenal are believed to have a transfer kitty of £40million this summer.
