United Striker In Fresh Speculation
Real Madrid are being linked with a £100million move for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford – and they want to do a deal before he signs a new contract.
That’s according to speculation in The Sun which claims the La Liga giants haven’t given up hope of signing the England international.
Talks have taken place between United and Rashford and the club are confident he will sign a new deal. But he is taking his time over putting pen to paper and the paper claims that has given Real ancouragement.
But United are unlikely to give up Rashford without a fight. The club regard him as a player who they expect to stay at the club for years to come.
Reports in November of last year claimed Real had been in touch with Rashford’s representatives over the possibility of a move. But that was when Jose Mourinho was Manchester United manager. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the 21-year-old has scored five goals in nine appearances giving him a career-best eight Premier League goals for the season.
The Sun claims United would be willing to treble Rashford’s wages from £60,000 a week to somewhere in the region of £200,000 a week. That ought to see off any interest from Real who would be unlikely to match that offer.
With Cristiano Ronaldo gone, Karim Benzema’s career coming to an end and Gareth Bale turning 30 in July, Real are building for the future. They are looking for young talent to replace their established superstars.
But Rashford has already ruled out a move away from Manchester United and a successful move by Real looks unlikely.
