Ozil To Turn Down PSG Move
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has emerged as a surprise target for Paris Saint-Germain.
The runaway Ligue 1 leaders face a dilemma with Neymar ruled out for the next ten weeks with a broken metatarsal. That means the Brazilian superstar will miss PSG’s Champions League clashes with Manchester United.
According to reports from France, PSG have approached Arsenal over a potential loan move for Ozil. The German has fallen down the pecking order under Unai Emery although he was a starter and skipper in Tuesday night’s 2-1 victory over Cardiff City.
Ozil has also been linked with AC Milan and Juventus with reports suggesting earlier this month Arsenal had offered him to both those clubs.
His £350,000-a-week wages has proved a sticking point. But PSG can afford that kind of salary and the French side appear – on the face of it – to be completely immune to any sort of Financial Fair Play regulations. Having held back last summer they have already splashed out £40million on Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes.
But German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung claims that Ozil has told PSG that he isn’t interested in leaving Arsenal on loan.
One player who does look to be leaving the Emirates on loan is teenager Emile Smith-Rowe. The midfielder has flown to Germany for a medical with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
Smith-Rowe has been promised game time by Leipzig who lie in fourth place in the table.
The German club have been tracking the England under-17 World Cup winner for the past couple of months.
