Milenkovic, Barella On Manchester United Transfer Radar
Manchester United are still being linked with two stars from Serie A despite the club’s insistence that there will be no new signings this month.
United have been keeping tabs on Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic with Jose Mourinho taking a personal check on the Serbia international when he played in a Nation League clash with Montenegro last autumn.
But according to Fiorentina chief executive Pantaleo Corvino, United have seen at least one bid rejected for Milenkovic.
“We rejected great offers from Lyon for [Jordan] Veretout, from Marseille for Simeone and from Manchester United for Nikola Milenkovic,” Corvino told Gazetta dello Sport.
“[Napoli president] De Laurentiis pressed for [Federico] Chiesa. This is the right way to grow.”
United were reported earlier this month to have bid €50million (£43million) for Milenkovic. The Red Devils are expected to return with a fresh bid in the summer.
Meanwhile, Gazzetta also claims Manchester United may be interested in Cagliari midfielder Nicola Barella.
The 21-year-old was linked earlier this month with interest from Chelsea although the Blues have since switched their attention to Zenit St Petersburg’s Leandro Paredes.
Gazzetta claims that Inter Milan are refusing to meet Cagliari’s valuation of €50million (£43million) for Barella and that could open the way to a move to Old Trafford.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked in the past with the Italy international although that interest has cooled in each case.
