Arsenal could allow Aaron Ramsey to join Juventus this month instead of at the end of the season. But it depends on whether or not the Gunners can complete a loan move for Denis Suarez.

Ramsey has already passed a medical with Juve and he signed on the dotted line last week for a four-year deal worth around £300,000 a week. But Juventus are keen to bring him in early. That all depends on Arsenal signing a replacement – which is where Suarez comes in.

The Gunners have been in talks with Suarez and Barcelona since before the transfer window opened at the start of the month. Discussions have centred around an initial loan move until the end of the season with a permanent transfer in the summer. But whereas Barcelona are insisting that the permanent switch will be automatically triggered in the loan agreement Arsenal are only interested in the option of a transfer for a fee for somewhere in the region of €20million (currently worth around £18million). It would be up to them to exercise that option. As it stands the two sides are entrenched in their positions.

Some outlets are still throwing in the name of James Rodriguez as a possible loan signing. The Colombia international is currently in the second season of a two-year loan from Real Madrid to Bayern Munich. But he has fallen down the pecking order under coach Niko Kovac. His second-half substitute appearance in the 3-1 win at Hoffenheim on Friday was only his ninth of the season although it followed a six-week lay-off with a knee injury.

All the noises coming from Germany suggest that there isn’t the appetite on the part of either Rodriguez or Bayern for the 27-year-old to cut short his loan and move to the Emirates. However, these things often develop a life of their own and nothing can be ruled out.

But Arsenal won’t be letting Ramsey leave early until they have a replacement in place.
