Manchester United News: New Deals For Pogba, Martial

Duo Set To Sign New Contracts

Manchester United are in talks over new deals for both Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.

Both players have been linked with exits away from Old Trafford although the situation has changed for the better in each situation.

Pogba was at loggerheads with former boss Jose Mourinho for much of the 2018 calendar year. His disaffection with the club began with the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at the end of January last year and the tactical changes that went with it.

Martial has long been looking for a way out of Old Trafford to his unhappiness over playing time.

But with the departure of Mourinho and the installation of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager until the end of the season there has been a change in the atmosphere at Manchester United. Pogba has scored five goals in the seven games since Solskaer took over and is on track for the best goalscoring season of his career. Martial has also seen a new lease of life.

The France international is ready to open talks with United despite still having more than two years left on his current deal. At present he earns £290,000 a week with only Alexis Sanchez on a higher salary at £505,000 a week. David De Gea is expected to be granted a similar wage to Pogba when he signs a new deal in the coming months.

Martial is much closer to the end of his current deal. The club recently triggered a one-year extension that will keep him at the club until the end of next season.

Talks have been going on for over a year but a breakthrough has been made in recent weeks and a new deal is expected to be signed certainly before the end of this season.
