Agent Rules Out January Transfer
Manchester United are still hopeful of signing Porto defender Eder Militao. That’s despite reports suggesting he has verbally agreed to join Real Madrid.
United have been tracking the Brazilian for some months although executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is reluctant to spend money on any new players in the January transfer window. Woodward wants to hold his transfer kitty for whoever takes over as manager in the summer – be that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being given the job on a permanent basis or someone new being brought in.
But Militao’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci says the defender won’t be leaving Porto this month although he refused to rule out a move to the Bernabeu.
“There is no possibility of the player leaving his current club in the winter market,” Bertolucci told Spanish newspaper AS. He added. “We’re not ruling out his signing for Real Madrid in the summer.”
The 21-year-old only moved to Porto from Sao Paulo in his homeland last August for a fee of €4million (£3.6million). His contract contains a release clause allowing him to leave for a fixed transfer fee of €50million (£45million).
