Bergwijn In Manchester United Link
Manchester United are keeping tabs on PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn with the prospect of a £25million transfer bid later this month.
According to The Sun, United scouts will watch the 21-year-old in PSV’s clash with Emmen next Sunday.
Bergwijn has scored nine goals in 16 Eredivisie games so far this season. He has already been watched by representatives from Old Trafford although United’s Premier League rivals Liverpool have also been linked.
PSV rejected bids last summer from Serie A side Torino as well as French outfit Bordeaux who wanted Bergwijn as the replacement for Barcelona-bound Malcom.
But United have been quiet in the transfer market this month amidst rumours that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward wants to keep back any transfer kitty for whoever takes on the job on a permanent basis this summer.
That may suit PSV who would prefer to wait until the end of the season to field any bids.
De Gea To Stay
Meanwhile, David De Gea looks set to sign a new big-money contract with Manchester United. That’s according to the Daily Mirror which doesn’t add any source for its report.
United have triggered an extension clause in De Gea’s current deal that will see him remain at Old Trafford until the end of next season. In the meantime, talks have taken place over a new deal worth around £300,000 a week and all the signs are that he will put pen to paper in the coming months.
