Ramsey Deal Set To Be Announced
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey looks set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Juventus.
The Wales international is out of contract this summer and has been in formal talks with the Italian champions since the start of this month. But Ramsey has accepted a five-year contract worth £200,000 a week with the Italian champions and the move will be announced in the coming days. Sky Italia claims a formal announcement will be made following Juve’s Italian Super Cup clash with AC Milan next week.
The 27-year-old saw the formal offer of a new deal with Arsenal withdrawn without warning in September by the Gunners. It was felt by the north London club that they would be better served investing the money in a younger player although Ramsey claims not to have been given any reason for the withdrawal.
Herrera In For Ramsey?
Meanwhile, FC Porto’s Mexico international midfielder Hector Herrera is being tipped as a possible replacement for Ramsey.
Like the Welshman, Herrera is out of contract at the end of the season. But Arsenal face competition from at least five other clubs for his signature. Serie A side Roma have offered him a four-year deal on the basis that he moves this month. Porto have ruled out a move this month. However, there is also interest from Inter Milan, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Wolves as well as Arsenal. A move to Italy or Spain currently looks more likely.
