Odds Fall On Koulibaly Move
Bookmakers are reporting a flurry of bets on Manchester United signing the Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly this month. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that a transfer is on the cards.
United have been linked for much of the season with Senegal international Koulibaly who is regarded as one of the best central defenders in Serie.
But bookies Paddy Power slashed their odds on him moving to Old Trafford this month from 33/1 to 6/1 following what they describe as “a surge in betting” after United’s 2-0 victory at Newcastle United on Wednesday.
However, Napoli’s £107million price tag on Koulibaly along with reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be restricted to loan signings this month means that a move for the 27-year-old looks unlikely – at least until the summer.
Manchester United will be a defender up for the rest of the season. Timothy Fosu-Mensah has seen his loan spell at Fulham cut short.
The 21-year-old made eight Premier League appearances for the west London side but Fulham look set to sign Gary Cahill on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season and Fosu-Mensah has been sent back to United in order to make room.
Fosu-Mensah was in the Fulham side that lost 4-1 at Arsenal on Tuesday but it was his first appearance for the side in almost two months.
United will now look for another club to send the young Dutchman out on loan to. He had a spell last season at Crystal Palace.
