Gunners In Keeper Link
Arsenal have put in a bid of €16million (£14million) for Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas. The Spanish newspaper Sport claims the Gunners and Serie A side Roma are front-runners for the Costa Rica international’s signature.
Navas has won three Champions League titles with Madrid but he has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival last summer of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea. Former coach Julen Lopetegui wanted a gradual transition but new boss Santi Solari is ready to sell the 32-year-old Navas.
Juventus Keen On Ramsey
Juventus have confirmed their interest in Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The Wales international is now free to speak to overseas clubs about a pre-contract agreement and Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici admits he is a player they are keen on.
“Ramsey is a very good player who has been playing at a high level for many years and who plays for an important club. For now, that’s it,” Paratici told Sky Italia.
Juve’s Serie A rivals Inter Milan are also interested along with Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Ozil Agent Rules Out Transfer
The agent of Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil says there is no chance of him leaving the Emirates this month.
Ozil has been in and out of the Gunners’ side of late leading to speculation about a possible move. Real Madrid and Inter Milan have both been linked although sources inside the Bernabeu suggest that the La Liga side’s interest in somewhat over-stated.
But speaking to Goal, Dr Erkut Sogul said that Ozil has no interest at all in a transfer away from Arsenal.
“I would prefer not to speak publicly about Mesut’s situation, but given the recent speculation linking him with a move away from Arsenal, I do feel it is important to provide some clarity so we can end this and focus on football,” said Dr Sogul.
“Mesut signed a new contract last January because he saw his future at Arsenal and nothing has changed in his mind. He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer.
“Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club. He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else.
“He is proud to wear the shirt and honoured to represent Arsenal on and off the pitch. He takes his responsibilities – including being selected as one of the captains this season – very seriously and has a great relationship with his team-mates, the staff and fans.”
