Pepe On The Move
Arsenal transfer target Nicolas Pepe admits he is interested in a move away from Lille this summer. The Ivory Coast international has scored 12 goals and provided five assists for the Ligue 1 side so far this season and is being tracked by Manchester City and Barcelona as well as Arsenal
But speaking to French regional newspaper Le Voix Du Nord, Pepe ruled out a move in the January transfer window. However, he hinted that a move next summer is very much on the cards.
“Finish the season at Lille … Yes, that’s true,” he said.
“As the president has already said, my desire is to finish the season at Lille, and then we’ll see.
“I have a contract until 2022. My idea is to finish this season with Lille and why not start the next in Europe … it would be beautiful.”
Pepe was the subject of a €20million (£18million) bid from Bundesliga side Schalke 04 in August. However, Lille told the German outfit that he wouldn’t move for anything less than €30million (£27million).
But Pepe’s performances this season have seen his valuation increase. “I would sell him for €80million [£72million],” sporting director Luis Ocampos said last week. “But any club would have to convince the player.”
