Manchester City have made initial contact with the representatives of Real Madrid midfielder Isco.

The Spain international is at his lowest ebb at the Bernabeu having lost his place under new coach Santi Solari. He has also been the subject of jeers from the stands.

Isco has a release clause of €700million (£629million) in his contract with Real although club president Florentino Perez may be willing for him to leave under the right circumstances. However, he will demand a minimum of €100million (£90million) for the 26-year-old.

City boss Pep Guardiola is known to be an admirer of the former Malaga man who is also well known to the hierarchy at the Etihad Stadium. City were in the running to sign Isco in 2013. However, he chose to make the move to Real Madrid instead.

Real are interested in Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard. Any move for the Belgium international is likely to accelerate an exit from the Bernabeu for Isco. Hazard would cost well over €100million and Isco’s sale would help to facilitate that deal.
