Uruguayan Turns 32 Next Month
Barcelona have put together a seven-player shortlist to replace striker Luis Suarez. The Uruguay international turns 32 next month and although he still has two-and-a-half years left on his current deal the Catalan side are already planning for the future.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims the club are already eyeing up potential replacements and suggests there are seven suitable candidates.
Ajax’s 21-year-old Denmark international Kasper Dolberg is top of the list. However, he has played only ten league games for the Dutch side although he has hit the back of the next on six occasions. That’s the same number of goals he scored in 23 Eredivisie matches last season.
RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner is also on the list although the Bundesliga side have resisted past bids from Premier League clubs – in particular from Liverpool.
Krzysztof Piatek, Genoa’s Poland international has scored 12 goals in 16 Serie A games this season and is being watched by Barcelona scouts.
Maxi Gomez of Celta Vigo is a Uruguay international who has hit eight goals in 12 Lia Liga matches this term.
Luka Jovic of Benfica – currently on loan at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt – Lille’s Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe and AC Milan’s Andre Silva make up the seven-man shortlist.
