Gunners Have Been Interested For The Past 12 Months
Arsenal are being linked with a £40million January transfer bid for the Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon.
The Sun On Sunday believes the Gunners have already been in touch with the Argentine side. That may well be true as Arsenal were initially linked with Pavon as long ago as January.
Reports claimed Pavon would move to the Emirates after playing in the World Cup this summer. Instead he travelled home and put pen to paper on a new deal. His release clause increased from €37million to €50million (£45million).
Arsenal director of football Raul Sanllehi indicated last month that there would be no new signings in January. However, manager Unai Emery suggested this week that there could be a new central defender joining the club in January following the season-ending injury to Rob Holding.
Fulham have also made an enquiry for Pavon but aren’t willing to meet Boca’s valuation.
Pavon has made 11 appearances for the Argentina national team since making his debut for the team in 2017. However, the 22-year-old has yet to score for the side.
